TAROT CARD

DATE: December 2023
PROJECT: I designed this tarot-inspired holiday card for my teammates in women’s apparel at Nike. The brand gets its name from the Greek goddess of victory. She’s depicted here wearing her own pair of Nikes. The card was modeled after The World tarot card (learn more about that here). The design features silver foil and a velvety matte finish.

I chose tarot as a theme because I often give readings to my teammates. It’s always a connective experience and helps me learn more about a person’s inner, emotive world. In my own practice, I use tarot to tap into my intuition.

THE CARD READS —

The goddess of victory is depicted here in the style of The World tarot card. The World represents completed cycles. In this card, Nike flies high among the stars. A laurel wreath encircles her, a symbol of achievement. She holds a candle — its flame speaks to her creative power and wisdom gained from experience. With one foot behind her, she steps forward into the future. The constellations in each corner stand for the fixed signs of the zodiac. They represent the four elements, which suggests a sense of completion, balance and harmony.

KEYWORDS: Completion, Wholeness, Integration, Celebration, Flight, Success, Experience, Fulfillment, Manifestation

Congratulations on another completed cycle! Now is the time to celebrate all you’ve achieved. May all your dreams take flight in the new year — Sophia Ahmad

VALENTINE CARD

DATE: February 2024
PROJECT: I designed this valentine for my color teammates at Nike. I created an original pattern — hearts made of two swooshes — in Nike colors Picante Red, Pinksicle and Pale Ivory. I wrote the poem as an ode to the color designer.

THE CARD READS —

Roses are red, violets aren’t blue
The latter flower has its own hue
Color is everything for designers like us
Today red, white & pink are a must
Pink is the fuchsia, and white is the daisy
For the right shade, we’ll drive ourselves crazy
We’re sticklers for color, can’t deny that
Can’t be too light, too bright or too flat
Writing this poem, the pleasure is mine
To wish you a happy Valentine’s!
