Monochrome by CJ Hendry

"I am new to color, not too sure if I understand it yet", says Australian artist CJ Hendry.
Monochrome, her recent exhibition held in a 22,000 square foot warehouse in Brooklyn, showcased seven rooms drenched in single colors. Rooms you would find in a home--a blue lounge, red dining room, green kitchen, purple bathroom, pink and yellow bedrooms, and an orange study. Each room housed her pencil drawings of crumpled Pantone swatches.
Visitors were forbidden from touching anything, but pictures were encouraged. It's the latest art event created to appeal to the Instagram set, which I fully admit to being a part of. I got up early on a rainy Friday morning to beat the crowds. Not for selfies--what drew me to the exhibition was the idea of being fully immersed in color.
Thank you to W magazine for featuring one of my Instagram photos in a piece about the exhibition.
